
The Humanitarian Media Center (HMC) concluded today, Thursday, a specialized training program for female journalists in Marib Governorate entitled “GBV-Responsive Media Coverage.” This program forms part of the “Her Voice Is Power” project, which seeks to reduce gender-based violence in displacement camps by empowering local female journalists, strengthening their skills, making the voices of affected women and girls heard.
Over three days, eighteen participants- graduates and students from Marib’s media colleges—engaged in comprehensive training sessions covering core gender concepts, ethical reporting on violence, the production of impactful human-interest stories, and the strategic planning of digital advocacy campaigns. The training was conducted by Mohammed Farhan, an expert in media and gender studies.
During the closing ceremony, Dr. Kamal Al-Qudami, Head of HMC, highlighted the significant level of engagement and the high-quality outcomes achieved by the participants. He commended their dedication in developing story and report samples that reflect strong humanitarian resopnse to issues facing women and girls .
Participants expressed appreciation for the chance to further develop their professional skills, highlighting the effectiveness of the training and its practical orientation. They stated that the program enhanced their ability to report on gender-based violence with both professionalism and ethical responsibility .
The program concluded with the awarding of certificates and a commemorative group photograph, gathering the participants, the trainer, and HMC administrative staff.
